Mike Finney

Mike trained at Loughborough in the early 1970’s and then went on to teach for over 30 years. During that time he was involved in the development of CDT in Lincolnshire and was an author and editor for the highly successful Collins Technology series of text books.

He became a D & T Association consultant and was involved in training teachers in a number of CAD packages from 1999 onwards. Mike also managed the Lincolnshire Digital Support Centre for the CAD In Schools project.

Mike left teaching in 2010 to become an independent Design and Technology Consultant and joined Ideas In2 Action Ltd in 2012. Since then he has worked on many commercial design projects and has continued to D&T in schools in both Lincolnshire and across the country.

He is a passionate about designing and making and feels that all students in schools should have the opportunity to experience ‘real world’ design, free from the constraints imposed by examination boards and the National Curriculum.
