FAQs

Isn't it expensive to run a website?

Packages are getting cheaper every day. Most ISP's (Internet Service Providers) have held their prices for commercial packages over recent months, and at the same time have increased the level of service on offer. There are numerous 'free' internet and mail packages around, although you must check the small print - most have limited use for commercial businesses.

But surely asking a design company to produce a website is going to be very costly isn't it?

Not necessarily. The cost should be based on how large the finished site will be, coupled with how long it takes to develop. All our clients are assessed on an individual basis and quotes are prepared accordingly.

How much will it cost?

A simple site with 4 or 5 linked pages (with pictures, backgrounds, logos etc.) could cost as little as £300 (dependant on how much content there is for each section and how much time is involved in preparing graphics).

Do you host websites?

No. We can arrange and manage your hosting service through a London based ISP who offer a value for money service which can be tailored for your needs. A typical site would cost around £50 p.a., including e-mail forwarding, your own domain name (e.g. www.mycompany.co.uk), site statistics (how many people have visited your pages etc), sufficient web space for your needs and friendly staff to answer any questions.

For educational establishments there are a number of education based ISPs who can provide a tailored service at reasonable costs. It is always worth shopping around.

Once the site is up and running, how is it updated?

There are several options available:

  1. We can hand over total control to a person within your organisation who will then be responsible in-house for maintaining the site.
  2. You can assign someone in-house to implement minor updates, with any major additions/changes being carried out by ourselves as and when necessary.
  3. We can take responsibility for all changes to the site remotely, with changes being e-mailed/faxed through as and when necessary.

Any changes being carried out by ourselves you will be charged at an hourly rate agreed as part of the original contract.
